Kimmy Rivet will make a return to the Sportsman Modified division. Rivet told 22News that the 2018 season was her best season for the team as a whole. The team had a lot of great finishes and many memories along the way.
Rivet hit a milestone last season. For the first time, she became the first woman to win in the Sportsman Modified division at Monadnock Speedway. Something the team has been striving to achieve for many seasons.
“I really wanted to be the first girl to win a Sportsman Modified race at Monadnock Speedway and we accomplished that,” said Rivet.
Rivet finished third overall in the points in the division with a few DNF’s. For the 2019 season, she hopes to improve and get more wins for the team. She believes the competition for this season already seems to be pretty stout with some veteran modified drivers returning to the division. She hopes to put up a fight and compete for the top spot against some of the drivers in the division.
During the offseason, Norm Wrenn purchased Monadnock Speedway from longtime owners Larry Cirillo and Fred Pafumi. Rivet is looking ahead at the speedway.
“I believe the change in ownership is a great opportunity for Monadnock to get the updates and promotion it’s been in need of for a few years now. I’m excited to see what the new owners have in for this season,” said Rivet.
The 2019 season at Monadnock Speedway will open up on Saturday, May 4 featuring the Valenti Modified Racing Series along with the Sportsman Modifieds, Late Model Sportsman, Mini Stocks, Street Stocks, Pure Stocks, Young Guns, and the Northeast Classic Lites. The event will kick off at 5:00 p.m.
