Chase Dowling set fast time in NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour qualifying on Saturday for Sunday’s NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler at Stafford Motor Speedway. Dowling set fast time of 17.721 seconds (101.574) MPH. On Saturday. fans got to see group qualifying on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. Dowling told 22News that its different.
” They tried it last year. We did it at Myrtle Beach. It gives you another chance to get another lap in. Basically, you can run as many laps as you can. It’s different. You can set up your cars a little different.” Dowling Said
Dowling felt the car was good during qualifying.
Rowan Pennink will start second.
Jon McKennedy will start the race in third. McKennedy told 22News that the car was to lose in qualifying.
” We were a little bit too aggressive with the stagger. Were starting third. Still a good starting spot. More importantly, we have a good car for the race.” McKennedy Said
The most recent NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour winner at the Thompson Icebreaker Justin Bonsignore will start fourth. Bonsignore came to Stafford before the event and had a good test. Bonsignore told 22News that every time he and his team have hit the track so far with the cars and his new crew chief Ryan Stone, its been a learning experience. They have been fine tuning everything as the car has a lot of speed for the event this weekend.
Defending NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Doug Coby will start fifth in Sunday’s NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event.
The NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler will kickoff with the open track pit party from 11:00 A.M. until noon. Pre-Race Ceremonies will begin at 12:15 p.m. with feature racing starting at 1:00 p.m. The 200 lap NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race is scheduled to go off at approx 3:15 p.m.
