Tyler Leary will be moving up to the SK Modified division in 2019 at the Stafford Motor Speedway. Leary had a busy 2018 season racing in the Late Model division at Stafford and raced in the Super Stock division at Monadnock Speedway.  Leary won the 2018 Monadnock Speedway Super Stock championship.

Leary will be racing double duty in 2019 at Stafford in the SK Modifieds and Late Models. Leary told 22News that he is excited about the opportunity.

” It’s a real exciting deal for sure. I think there is going to be some nerves that come with it too. Just gonna try to stay calm and get as much as practice time as I can. I am really excited to work with Todd (Owen), Donny (Wood) and all those guys. I am pretty excited for the opportunity.” Said Leary

Leary was shocked to get the phone call and didn’t have any hint of it.  Leary did not know that Josh Wood out of Palmer was taking the year off. To get the phone and have Leary’s father Marty tell him that it was a huge shock and that it felt surreal.

” We talked about it and we decided that you know opportunities pop out of nowhere. We went for it and we’re gonna go for it.” Said Leary

Leary told 22News that racing double duty at Stafford Motor Speedway on Friday nights will definitely be challenging physically and mentally

” I am gonna have to stay sharp not just physically but mentally. It’s something you got to stay focused with and focus on how each car is reacting and the changes going from one to the other. It’s going to take me a while to learn in the modified but will get the hang of it. It’s kind of nice to have the Late Model to lean back on.” Said Leary

The SK Modified division has some diverse drivers to name such as Keith Rocco, Ronnie Williams, Todd Owen, Glen Reen, Dan Avery, Keith Rocco, Chase Dowling just to name.  Leary is thrilled to race in the division as he grew up watching these drivers race on Friday nights at Stafford Motor Speedway.

The 2019 Stafford Motor Speedway schedule was released this week and the NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler will kick off the 2019 season on April 26-28.
