It was a pretty close game right until the very end.

The Patriots lost to the Dolphins in the final seconds. It’s being called one of their worst regular season losses in years.

The New England Patriots were beaten by the Miami Dolphins with just seconds left in the 4th quarter.

“The first thing I thought, the game was over. With the time ticking, I thought it was over,” said Pats fan Andy Colon. “They were deep in their own territory and once the play happened, I couldn’t believe it at first.”

The Dolphins ran a lateral play in the closing seconds Sunday to score a touchdown and take the win, 34-33. Prior to that play, New England had just kicked a field goal to go up by five and almost had the AFC East championship in their sights.

With Sunday’s loss, the Patriots are now 9-4, but still hold the top spot in the AFC East standings. And with that Miami win, the Dolphins are a close second.

“I expect them to close out on the last three games of the season and come into the playoffs hard,” said Colon. “I think it’s going to be an eye opener. It is hard for them to play in the heat in the sunshine state but all in all I think it’s going to be an eye opener.”

In week 15, the Pats take on the Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field. The Steelers are also first in their division.

That game is next Sunday. Kickoff is at 4:30 p.m.
