Carey, III has had a great to started to his season after finishing sixth at Richmond Raceway in Richmond, VA for the American Canadian Tour Commonwealth Classic.

“Every time we went out on the track. We were on top of the charts. Won our qualifier and won the feature so perfect weekend,”  said Carey, III.

Carey, III was in contention for the Late Model championship and came close to winning it last year. He told 22News they want to win every no matter what happens.

“Last year was kind of a tough deal. The way it went down how we had it and lost it. One of those deals. Any time we come to the race track were gonna do the best we can and we’re gonna try to win the race. That’s what racers do,” said Carey, III.

His wife Amanda and their daughter Taylor joined in on the celebration in victory lane.

“It was cool. My little one was here for the first one that we had here last year and my wife wasn’t. She had to work that day so this was her first one. That’s what it’s all about is family. It’s fun racing with your family. My dad is involved in it like heavily. It’s a great thing and everyone that comes here is your racing family whether their blood or not. It’s awesome,” said Carey, III.

Keith Rocco and Todd Owen battled it out during the 30 lap Sunoco Modified Race. Rocco would come out with the victory. Glen Reen out of Belchertown came home with a fifth-place finish.
