A little flooding didn’t keep the local rowing team from practicing Tuesday.
The Connecticut River is running high, which made it unsafe for the Northampton Youth and Community Rowing Team to practice in the water.
So, Coach Linda Hannum got creative and set up a practice on land. Dozens of rowers used rowing machines to train.
Coach Hannum said safety always comes first, “We’re dying to go back out on the water. But we’re gonna have to wait. You know, it might be another week before it’s safe enough to go back out again.”
The rowing team is practicing for a regatta next week in Saratoga Springs, New York.
