The 18th annual Hoophall classic kicked off Thursday night.

The tournament is hosted by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame at Springfield College every year. Fourteen nationally ranked high school teams are scheduled to participate in the tournament.

Two local teams started the tournament when Sabis Charter School beat Chicopee High.

Aaron Williams, a senior for Sabis, told 22News what he thought about opening the tournament, “We felt good to kick it off start it off on a good note and we really went out there and played together and we won.”

Twenty-nine games will be played in five days.

All games are played at Springfield College in the Blake Arena.
