Sports

The Springfield Thunderbirds played their home opener of their 2018/19 season Saturday night at the MassMutual Center.

And it was a sea of white, everyone in attendance received a white rally towel. The Thunderbirds took the ice against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

The Thunderbirds came into tonight’s game with a 3-1 record. At Saturday night’s game, the BU-10 Northampton Soccer Team was there, who has raised money to help find a cure for breast cancer.

22News caught up with Scott Breveleri from the team, he said  “We’ve raised over 1,000 dollars for raise for hope soccer team. We’ve done a car wash and they got a team night at the Falcons game.”

The Thunderbirds were winning late but ultimately lost their home opener 5-4
