SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Springfield Thunderbirds returned to home ice Friday night to take on the Hershey Bears.
The Thunderbirds weren’t able to pick up the win against the Bears Friday night, losing with a final score of 2-0. However, they’re currently in second place in the AHL’s Atlantic Division.
The Gándara Center and its staff were recognized during the Thunderbirds Hockey Team Frontline Fridays. The jumbotron displayed a welcome to the staff for their resources during the coronavirus pandemic. The center remained active throughout the pandemic, serving individuals with mental health, substance use disorder, as well as several other preventative services.
Friday night was an opportunity for staff to relax and enjoy a Thunderbirds game with their colleagues.
“I just want to say how grateful we are to be apart of this project. We miss coming here,” said Martha Baez of the Gándara Center.
The Thunderbirds organization provided the staff with free tickets to Friday night’s game.
