It’ll be a hot and loud Saturday in Southwick when thousands of fans converge on the track for the Pro Motocross Championships.

Several of the world’s fastest riders as well as western Massachusetts competitors will be at the Wick 338 Motocross track Saturday, June 30.

It’s the largest outdoor motocross racing event in the northeast.

“They’re in the air,” Robby Marshall, a rider from Massachusetts, told 22News. “They’re ripping through turns. It’s just always some action. there’s always something going on. Someone crashing. It’s similar to NASCAR, but it’s more aggressive than going around a circle on a paved track.”

Rick Johnson, General Manager of the track, told 22News. “It’s exciting. It’s loud. The guys go fast. It’s great for the kids. It’s very affordable as well. Kids under 12 are half price.  Kids under six are free.”

NBC Sports is airing the races. Johnson said there will be action all day. He advises people to come early and stay all day.

This is a world class competition, and it attracts thousands of people. That, combined with a hot summer holiday weekend and the proximity to Congamond Lakes, you can expect to run into a lot of traffic.

Get there early, and bring water.
