UMass Hockey ranked #1 in country

AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) – UMass Hockey is ranked #1 in the country for the first time ever!

The team is off to its best start in the program’s Division I history with a 12-1-0 record.

According to UMass Athletics, UMass Hockey has the top scoring offense in Hockey East with their top three scorers Mitchell Chaffee Cale Makar and John Leonard leading the league in points.

“It’s great for the program because it brings a lot of credibility and respect and it’s been great to see the energy in western Massachusetts for college hockey and rejuvenated and we’ve seen it in our crowds,” said Greg Carvel, Head Coach of UMass Hockey.

UMass Hockey takes on #8 Quinnipiac this Friday in Hamden, Connecticut. They will then return home to Amherst to face Quinnipiac at the Mullin’s Center Saturday, where they want fans to help #ChillTheBill and wear all white!
