BUFFALO (WWLP) — The UMass Men’s Hockey team is playing in the Frozen Four for the first time in program history, and they brought thousands of fans with them.

Among those who made the trip to Buffalo, New York, is Jeff Boeing. His son, UMass Forward Brett Boeing, is just moments away from getting out on the ice. A transfer student, he’s been with the team through its ups and downs.

“In his first half a year here they won the first game he played in and didn’t win a game the rest of the season,” Jeff said. “After that, it’s been a turnaround, Coach Carvel brought the right guys in– it’s been unbelieveable.”

The Boeings drove in all the way from Chicago.

“It’s a bucket list event,” Jeff said with tears in his eyes. “We did an overnight drive all the way. Made it to Eerie, camped there for a few hours and headed over here. We’ve done all the events. The party stuff on the way in. We are ready!”
