Westfield Youth Football Junior Bombers raise funds for trip to national championship

Sports

Westfield Youth Football Junior Bombers are Northeast Regional Champions and will play for the National Title in Canton, Ohio later this week.

And now, the 5th and 6th graders need help to play in the national championship.

The team held a spaghetti dinner fundraiser Sunday at shortstop bar and grille in Westfield to help raise money for their trip.

Costs have been estimated at around $60,000 and they are asking for help from the community.

Coach Troy St. Piere told 22News, “We had to raise a lot of money in the last week and this wasn’t planned and the community has been great and they are a huge reason why we are able to make this trip and be able to compete for a national title.”

Westfield Youth Football Junior Bombers are the first team in Massachusetts to earn this honor.

The championship is December 12 through the 16.
