BUFFALO, New York (WWLP) – The UMass men’s hockey team is heading to the Frozen Four in Buffalo Thursday!
The Minutemen will take on the University of Denver Thursday at 8:30 p.m. and UMass fans are expected to show up in Buffalo. A pre-game gathering will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday at the 716 Food and Sport Restaurant.

If the team wins they will then face the winner of Thursday’s 5 p.m. game where Minnesota Duluth University will play Providence College. The winners of Thursday’s games will play each other on Saturday at 8 p.m.

1. Niagara Falls
Established in 1885, Niagara Falls State Park is the oldest state park in the United States. The park stretches more than 400 acres, with almost 140 acres of the park under water. Every second, 3,160 tons of water flows over the falls.

Like western Massachusetts, Buffalo is home to many breweries, wineries, and distilleries. Some popular ones include Big Ditch Brewing Company, Resurgence Brewing Company, and Buffalo Distilling Company.
Canalside is home to the Erie Canal Harbor. Located in downtown Buffalo the area is rich with history from when the harbor was an industrious port that was busy with people and goods from around the world. Canalside can also be accessed through the Buffalo River.
5. Albright-Knox Art Gallery
The Albright-Knox Art Gallery is the sixth oldest public art institution in the United States. Founded in December of 1862 the gallery is home to a collection of paintings by well-known artists such as Picasso, Matisse, Georgia O’Keeffe, Frida Kahlo, and van Gogh.
6. Other things
- The Buffalo Zoo is the nation’s third oldest zoo. Animals that call the zoo home include polar bears, bison, gorillas, giraffes, zebras, and more.
- Elmwood, Hertel, and Allen Streets offer eclectic shopping, attractions, and restaurants.
