Thousands of runners are getting ready for the St. Patrick’s Day Road Race Saturday.

Runners picked up their bib-tags and t-shirts  Friday night at the Race Headquarters in Holyoke.

More than 10,000 people are expected at the race including runners and spectators for the event. Tim Gerry of Monson told 22News he’s been running in the road race for several years.

“The energy, the excitement and the fans here are just phenomenal,” Gerry said. “They’re equal to any fan, anywhere, in any race I’ve ever been to. And I’m talking about some of the biggest races in the world.”
