Heat and storms aren’t the only weather concern Monday, the air quality may also cause certain people problems.
An air quality alert was issued for parts of our area Monday due to high ground ozone levels.
Ozone is a gas known as 03. Certain pollutants react with sunlight to form ozone and it’s the main ingredient in smog.
On days like Monday, hot humid days with a good amount of sunshine ozone can reach its most unhealthy levels and it’s worse in urban areas.
Not all of us are affected equally by high ozone.
Those with breathing difficulties or those already sensitive to changes in air quality are most affected by high ozone days and may have trouble breathing.
If you’re in this category it’s best to breathe filtered air either through an air conditioning system or air purifiers.
