After some very warm weather this summer it’s been pretty comfortable over the last couple of days.
August 2018 was one of the hottest on record globally and here in western Massachusetts.
According to NOAA the average global temperature in August was 1.33 degrees above the 20th century average of 60.1 degrees. This was the fifth highest global temperature for August on record.
For us here in western Massachusetts August 2018 was the hottest August on record at Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee. The average temperatures was 74.2 degrees which beats the previous record of 74.1 set back in August of 1980.
For the year to date, the average global temperature was the fourth warmest on record for the period from January to August.
