Freshly-fallen snow may slow your morning commute

Weather News

Commuters are waking up Thursday to roads that, in many cases, remain snow-covered. Plow trucks are out in full force, but many roadways remain slick, and there is still a couple of inches of snow on many streets- particularly side roads.

Making matters worse, you could encounter some icy spots on the roadways as well.

The speed limit on the Massachusetts Turnpike remains reduced to 40 MPH from the New York state line through Exit 14 in Weston. Some 2,771 MassDOT crews are out clearing and treating roadways statewide.

The good news, however, is that the quality of the snow that fell overnight is light and fluffy, making clearing it off your car much easier.

Be sure to give yourself some extra time before you head to work Thursday. There are several school delays in western Massachusetts. Click here for a complete listing.
