The weather has been pretty dry lately and it is starting to get warmer. It was windy and a little cooler Thursday but that didn’t stop some golfers from getting out on the course.
It’s now April and at East Mountain Country Club in Westfield, the snow is all gone and the ground has thawed out.
“Today happened to be a good day to play and my buddy’s coming up from Pittsfield and we’re going to golf and try and play 18,” said Andrew Gonska
East Mountain Country Club co-owner Ted Perez says the season is off to a good start.
“We had a good early start this year for the first time in a few years we started the first day of spring, March 20th. So conditions are actually very good there’s no frost anymore the greens are good we mowed them a couple of times,” said Perez.
While the course is snow free the grass is starting to get pretty dry and Perez says they might need to get irrigation going to water the greens if we don’t get some substantial rain soon.
The good news is that it does look like we have some wet weather on the way for the end of the work week.
