Most areas in western Massachusetts picked up between one and a half and two and a half inches of rain Tuesday but some parts of Connecticut and Rhode Island go a lot more.
As warm air moved up over the colder air near the ground it helped to enhance the intensity of the rain.
Some parts of Connecticut picked up over eight inches of rain. Hamden, Connecticut ended up with eight and a half inches of rain, Woodbridge, Connecticut got more than six inches of rain and Willimantic, Connecticut had almost five and a half inches of rain.
All the rain led to flash flooding and river flooding in Connecticut and some people were even forced to evacuate their homes.
At Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee they reported just under two inches of rain.
