Keeping your lawn healthy during fall

Weather News

If you were out at all on Friday, you know that it was a pretty chilly fall day. There are some things you can do so that your lawn will be in good shape next year.

A lot of the trees still have their leaves but you should try and clean up what has fallen. You should also clean out your gardens and there are some things you can do to your lawn as well.

Nalini Benoit of the Sixteen Acres Garden Center told 22News “I would say mow a little bit shorter, apply a fall fertilizer, and if your last application was at least six weeks ago put another application of fall or winter fertilizer down.”

Benoit says you can still plant things like trees and shrubs right now. And mums are pretty hearty in the cold but if it gets very cold, you should cover them up.

It’s not looking like a very good weekend to do yard work, but you may have some better luck later next week.
