Light, fluffy snow to switch to sleet and freezing rain Tuesday night

Weather News

Well, winter is clearly not done with western Massachusetts yet.

There are already multiple inches of snow on the ground. There’s a couple of inches on Sumner Avenue and it is light and fluffy.

But with an expected switch to sleet and freezing rain later, the snow that’s already fallen will only become wetter and heavier.

Cars are absolutely crawling in an effort not to slip and slide.

And it’s not just local roads either, even highways are snow-covered. If you must head out on the roads, remember, the first thing to do is just slow down.

Even if you have all wheel drive, even if you have snow tires, you still need to take it slow.

And always give yourself extra traveling distance from the car in front of you in case you do slide.

Visibility is also low due to blowing snow, so turn those high beams off to see better.
