Local residents brave record breaking cold on Friday

Weather News

It was record breaking cold Friday morning.

Temperatures got down to 4 degrees at Westover Airbase. The former record was 8 degrees set in 1972.

One man heading to work this morning said he had to start his car 30 minutes early, so it was warm enough for his morning commute.

However, the cold is causing him other car troubles. Andrei Modirca said, “I just turned it on and started driving, and all the lights came on like a Christmas tree. I’ll have to see what it is, but it looks like it’s from the cold, I don’t know.”

Experts say that cold weather can result in dead batteries or deflated tires. Before you run into problems, a mechanic can use a machine to check the health of your car.
