Low temperature records broken on a cold Thanksgiving

Weather News

Thanksgiving is starting with dangerous cold and wind, but at least we’ll have plenty of sunshine today.

Wind Chill Advisory: Berkshire County until Noon. Wind chills (feels like temperatures) -10 to -25º possible during the morning. Frost bite in as little or less than 30 minutes.

The cold has been record breaking and more records could fall…

Records Broken:

  • The record low for today’s date was 12º set in 1969 and we have broken that record dropping to 10º earlier this morning.

Records to Watch (From Westover A.R.B. in Chicopee):

  • The current record coldest high temperature for today is 28º set in 2008 and we expect high temperatures to barely reach 20º today.
  • Morning low temperatures tomorrow will be down in the low single digits. The record low for Friday morning is 8º set in 1972.

Wind gusts over 25 mph will be possible today, but the winds will drop significantly tonight.

Stay with the 22News Storm Team as we track this cold followed by a weekend warmup.
