Massachusetts received nearly doubled the average amount of rainfall in October

Weather News

We may have some snow on the way but last month was one of the wettest on record.

According to NOAA, October was the 6th wettest on record across the United States.

The average October precipitation total across the United States was 3.37 inches, 1.21 inches above average. For the year to date, the average precipitation total across the United States was 28.63 inches which is 3.27 inches above average, making it the fifth wettest January to October on record.

Here in western Massachusetts, we picked up almost 6 inches of rain during the month of October. On average we usually get around half that with 3.06 inches.

But, instead of rain we’re actually talking about snow this time and it’s only the middle of November.
