National Weather Service confirms tornado touched down in New Canaan on Tuesday

NEW CANAAN, Conn. (WTNH) – The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down in New Canaan on Tuesday.

Much of the state saw severe weather that prompted Tornado Watches and Warnings in some areas of Connecticut.

Most of Connecticut also experienced heavy rain which caused flooding in some towns.

The National Weather Service says the tornado reached wind speeds around 100 MPH.

Officials are set to go down to Norwalk to assess damage down there as well.
