Outlook for spring flooding in western Massachusetts

Weather News

It’s been pretty dry lately and this typically the time of year we see spring flooding.

We have been pretty lucky and looks like we don’t really have to worry about flooding anytime soon.

April is off to a pretty dry start and this is usually the time of year we see flooding along area rivers especially the Connecticut River. While the river has been running a little high recently so far we haven’t really had any flooding issues thanks to the weather we’ve been having this spring.

“What we haven’t had which would have led to a lot of flooding is a very heavy rain coming with mild temperatures that both melts the snow and adds rainwater to the rivers that didn’t really happen a lot at the same time.” 22News Meteorologist Nick Bannin

Right now most river levels are expected to go down as we head into the weekend.
