Recent rain causing flood concern for local rivers

Weather News

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – Over the next couple of days, we will be watching our area rivers very closely.

The flooding at the Oxbow Marina in Northampton Tuesday morning was just some typical spring flooding caused by the recent heavy rain and snowmelt flowing down the river from the North.

The Connecticut River in Northampton is expected to rise just above flood stage at some point Tuesday.

This could impact the Oxbow, as well as Aqua Vitae Drive in Hadley. River flooding is also expected to impact low-lying areas of Hatfield, Sunderland, Whately, and Montague.

But, it shouldn’t last too long the river is expected to drop below flood stage later Tuesday, and into Wednesday
