Rain can sometimes be a bummer over the weekend, but it has been beneficial. 22News is working for you with how much rain we have seen this month already.
As the saying goes, “April showers bring May flowers.” If you want your plants to grow and your grass green for spring, rain from mother nature is needed.
After Friday’s and Sunday’s rain, people’s lawns are looking a lot greener.
April has technically been a wet month.
Our average rainfall amount for this month in western Massachusetts is 3.7 inches of rain, so far western Massachusetts has seen over 4 inches of rain.
Some of this moisture has been from snow too, in the beginning of the month. April’s average snowfall is 1.6 inches and western Massachusetts saw 4.5 inches of snow.
22News went to Andrew’s Greenhouse, in Amherst, where people were still buying flowers on a soggy Sunday.
Andrew Cowles, Owner of Andrew’s Greenhouse, told 22News, “Finally we got a nice rain, its warmer and the plants are taking off, and we’re getting this beneficial rain which could be too much. We go from having no rain to enough rain, you just never know.”
Cowles also told 22News his customers were especially happy Saturday with the warmer and dry weather.
