Severe Weather Alert: Heavy snow ends early Monday morning

SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WWLP) — The 22News Storm Team has issued a Severe Weather Alert for heavy snow into Monday morning which will create significant impacts to the morning commute.

Winter Storm Warning is in effect for Hampden, central/eastern Hampshire and Berkshire Counties until 10 a.m. Monday.

Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Franklin, western Hampshire and northern Berkshire Counties until 10 a.m. Monday.

Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for northern Berkshire County through 10 a.m. Monday.. 

  • Snow will taper off between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m. Monday morning, but a few flurries could linger later into the day.

Right now, it’s looking like a widespread 4 to 7 inches of snow is likely. Eastern Hampden County could see amounts up to 8 inches.

This is enough snow to significantly impact Monday’s morning commute, and cause school closings and delays. 

Skies will turn partly sunny and temperatures will rise above freezing which will help melt snow and improve roads.
