Spring storm will bring mainly valley rain, but significant snow in the hills

Weather News

A complicated spring storm will bring wintry weather for some of us.

Winter weather advisories and winter storm warnings have been issued for our western hills:

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY: Western Franklin & Western Hampshire County until 8am Saturday. Southern Berkshire County until 12pm Saturday. A few inches of snow expected, especially in higher elevations.

WINTER STORM WARNING:  Northern Berkshire County until 12pm Saturday. Significant snowfall expected.

There will be significant differences in weather conditions from the lower Pioneer Valley compared to our highest western hills.

Timing:

  • Friday Night: Snow showers, mainly in our eastern and western hills. Significant accumulation in our western hills and some in our eastern hills.
  • Saturday morning: Snow showers and flurries ending

Snow:

  • Barely any accumulation in the lower Pioneer Valley. Best chance for snow to stick would be late tonight
  • Coating-2″ in our eastern hills
  • 3-8″ over the highest elevations in the Berkshires with some isolated higher amounts not completely impossible
  • Here’s our snowfall forecast map.
