CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Thunderstorms came through parts of western Massachusetts Tuesday evening bringing down trees and power lines.

22News has received reports of damaged trees and power lines due to those thunderstorms.

Storm Damage Reports:

  • Springfield: Tree down on Gillette Avenue, large tree down on cars on Brookdale Road.    
  • Westfield: Small trees down off Union Street, two trees down on Parker Street.  
  • Chicopee: Tree on a car on Chicopee Street, panel of a wooden fence blown down in the Fairview section, large tree on wires between 77 and 88 Watson Street, 10-12 inch diameter branch down on a house on Newbury Street. 
  • East Longmeadow: Tree down on Dwight Road, another tree down on Parker Street.
  • Longmeadow: Multiple trees down on Railroad tracks, Amtrak Rail Service between Springfield and Windsor Locks shutdown, tree down blocking Tennyson Drive, and a large tree down on Bailey Road.
  • Southampton: Large tree on wires on Clark Street, large tree on wires on Clark Street.  
  • Hampden: Trees down on Blair Road.
  • Huntington: Trees down on Mountain View Street.
  • Westhampton: Tree down across Mine Road.
  • Agawam: Tree down on wires at Butternut Hollow Road and Greystone Ave. 
  • Southwick: Tree down on wires near 50 block of College Highway south.
  • Stockbridge: Tree down on East Street. 
  • Lenox: Multiple trees down at Tanglewood music center, large tree down blocking the Fox Hollow Road, car stuck between multiple fallen trees.
  • East Otis: Tree down across West Shore Road.

Agawam residents received a reverse 911 call to report road closures on Bridge Street, Rowley Street, Bridge Street, and Northwest Street by the Westfield line.

At around 7 p.m the MEMA power outage map reported nearly 20,000 customers were without power, and the towns of Southampton and Easthampton were nearly 100% without power. Power was also knocked out in Westfield where we saw multiple trees down and people using generators to power their homes.
