Storm damage reports, power outages, photos in western Massachusetts Monday

It was a 22News Severe Alert Day and strong thunderstorms moved through western Massachusetts. 

A Tornado Warning was issued for Franklin, Hampshire, and Hampden Counties.

Here is a look at some damage in our area, reported by trained weather spotters or over amateur radio:

  • 6/19 5:45 AM Springfield: Tree down at Sierra Vista Road and Forest Hills Road
  • 9:43 PM Springfield: Wires down and on fire at Plumtree Road and Pennsylvania Avenue
  • 8:31 PM New Salem: Tree limb down on wires on Blueberry Hill Road
  • 5:52 PM Granby: Two trees and wires down on North Street
  • 5:46 PM Whately: Tree and wires down on Shelbourne Falls Road
  • 5:42 PM Conway: Two trees down across a road
  • 5:35 PM Templeton: Wires and transformer down on Conway Road
  • 5:34 PM Colrain: Tree down on wires on West Leyden Road
  • 5:31 PM Ashfield: Multiple trees and wires down on Shaw Road
  • 5:16 PM Plainfield: Tree down on wires on County Road
  • 5:16 PM Plainfield: Tree down on Greenfield Road
  • 5:15 PM Leyden: Tree down on wires on Caitley Hill Road
  • 5:15 PM Colrain: Tree down on wires on Mild County Road
  • 5:15 PM Leyden: Tree down on wires on West Leyden Road


Over a thousand customers were without power after severe weather Monday evening.
