Strong winds this week took down quite a few trees and branches.
Western Mass Tree Care told 22News, now is a good time to evaluate the trees surrounding your home, or have a tree care service inspect them.
When heavy, wet snow moves it, it may take trees and branches down with it. Trees that have already lost their leaves are more susceptible to the wind.
“Once a canopy of leaves has fallen off the trees, the wind then has a tendency to blow right through the trees,” David Murphy of Western Mass Tree Care explained. “So any dead wood and hanging branches that are in the center of the tree will become accessible to the wind.”
The cold damage this time of year can also weaken trees and branches.
