CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The weather alert for Western Massachusetts has been canceled as of 12 a.m. Saturday.

The 22News Storm Team issued a Weather Alert Friday for a light wintry mix, heavy rain, and damaging winds.
A Wind Advisory is in effect for all of western Massachusetts from 1 a.m. Friday until 7 p.m. Friday. Gusts to 55 mph possible.
A Wind Chill Advisory is in effect for northern Berkshire from 7 p.m. Friday until noon on Saturday.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for northern Berkshire County until 1am Saturday.
Flooding
A Flood Watch is in effect for Berkshire County from 7 a.m. Friday until 7 a.m. Saturday. Snow melt and heavy rain may result in the street, stream, and some river flooding.
A Flood Warning is in effect for the Deerfield River until 1 a.m. Saturday. The river is expected to rise above flood stage to a crest of 10.2 feet Friday evening. It will then fall below flood stage late Friday evening. Minor flooding is forecast to affect Charlemont and West Deerfield.
Temperatures
Snow showers will taper to flurries Friday evening. Accumulating snow is likely in our western hills and in Berkshire County. Watch out for icy surfaces, even in the lower Pioneer Valley. The wind will occasionally gust over 30mph. Evening temperatures will drop through the 20s and into the teens.
Saturday’s 7a.m. temperatures will be in the teens and single digits. Plan on a partly to mostly sunny and windy day on Saturday, with gusts to 30mph. High temperatures will be in the teens. The wind will make it feel like the single digits most of the day.
Christmas Eve will be dry and breezy, with evening temperatures in the low to mid teens. Christmas Day will be brighter, with high temperatures in the mid 20s.
Snowfall Forecast
Rain will be heavy at times Thursday night. In fact, the heaviest rain with this storm will happen from around 1 a.m. – 7 a.m. Friday. Rain showers Friday morning will give way to snow showers Friday afternoon. There will be wind gusts over 30 mph on Friday.
There is the potential for a rapid drop below freezing Friday afternoon. That may result in a rapid freeze of previously wet surfaces Friday afternoon and evening. Highs will be in the 50s early Friday then temperatures will dramatically drop in the afternoon getting down into the 30s.
Christmas weekend is looking dry but windy and cold with highs in the 20s.
