Weather Alert: Gusty winds brought down trees, power lines

Weather News

A Wind Advisory was issued for Hampshire and Franklin Counties until 7 p.m. for wind gusts potentially as high as 45 mph.

The 22News Storm Team issued a Weather Alert due to the risk for power outages and tree damage during the highest wind gusts.

Downed trees reported around western Massachusetts

The majority of the strongest wind gusts stayed in the hills, but it was still windy in the Pioneer Valley where winds were over 30 mph.

Winds calmed down by early Wednesday night, allowing for a record-breaking cold.

Overnight lows will drop into the low teens and upper single digits by tomorrow morning. The record low at Westover A.R.B. for Thursday is 18ยบ set in 1942 and we should break that record.

The 22News Storm Team continues to track the potential for accumulating snow/sleet turning to a wintry mix Thursday Evening and into Friday.
