Weather Alert: Snow, sleet and freezing rain Sunday will create slick road conditions

Weather News

SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WWLP) — The 22News Storm Team has issued a weather alert Sunday due to snow, sleet and freezing rain leading to some slick conditions on roads.

Snow is moving in this morning and will gradually changeover to a wintry mix of sleet and freezing rain. The snow and sleet could accumulate a quick coating to 2 inches of snow, but as soon as the freezing rain starts, those totals will begin to go down as the showers pack down the snowfall.

After noon, areas in central and eastern Hampden County will change to plain rain. Freezing rain will linger to the north and west.

Rain showers will taper off in the early evening and skies will be mostly cloudy Sunday night.

Winter Weather Advisory: Western Hampden, Western Hampshire, Western Franklin counties until 5PM

Winter Weather Advisory: Eastern Hampden, Eastern Hampshire, and Eastern Franklin counties until 2PM

Winter Weather Advisory: Berkshire County until 1PM

Wind Advisory: Berkshire County until 4PM

SUNDAY: AM Snow/Wintry Mix, PM Rain

Highs: 34-38 (will hit near 40 before midnight)
Winds: East 5-10 MPH

SUNDAY NIGHT: Drying Out, Mostly Cloudy
