CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The 22News Storm Team issued a Weather Alert for strong to severe storms likely Monday afternoon & evening with the potential for heavy rain and damaging winds.

Monday is looking partly sunny, warm, and humid with the chance for showers and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon and evening. Some storms could be on the strong to severe side with damaging winds, heavy rainfall, frequent lightning, and hail. Highs will be in the lower 80s.

There is a chance for high winds and hail damage from the storm. According to the National Weather Service, hail could reach sizes of one inch and winds could gust as high as 60 mph.

The chance of severe weather will be done by 8 p.m. A few scattered showers are possible through midnight. Evening temperatures will be in the 60s. Skies will gradually clear & the wind will pick up overnight.

Tuesday’s 7 a.m. temperatures will be in the 40s and 50s. Plan on a bright & windy day! We’ll be mostly sunny! Winds gust will occasionally be over 25 mph on Tuesday. High temperatures will be in the upper 60s and low 70s.
