Weather Alert: Wintry mix and rain on the way for Friday

Weather News

A storm system will track to our west bringing us mainly rain, but as it runs into some cooler air early Friday morning, we’ll have to deal with a fairly brief period of snow, sleet and freezing rain. This mix could impact the morning commute on Friday so the 22News Storm Team has issued a Weather Alert for Friday morning.

Winter Weather Advisory: All of Hampden, Central and Eastern Hampshire Counties Friday morning until 9 AM.

Winter Weather Advisory: Western Hampshire and all of Franklin Counties Friday morning until 9AM.

Winter Weather Advisory: Berkshire County for Friday morning until 10 AM.

A light wintry mix overspreads the region between 2 and 6 a.m. before changing to all rain between 7 and 9 a.m.

Untreated roads will be slippery early Friday morning and an impact to the morning rush hour is possible. Total snow and sleet accumulations are expected to be less than one inch with some areas not getting any accumulation at all. A light glaze of accumulation is possible anywhere.

The wintry mix will change to rain as temperatures warm up to around 50 degrees Friday afternoon.
