Western Massachusetts getting ready for a major warm up

After a chilly Monday, people were happy to see how it warmed up Tuesday. 22News looked back to the last time we felt temperatures in the 80s.

Leave it to New England to go from feeling like late March to late June within 36 hours. 

The weather rollercoaster ride continues here in the Pioneer Valley. After a cooler than average April, western Massachusetts is beginning May with a warming trend. temperatures are forecast in the 70s and 80s the next couple of days,

22News spoke with one man who just moved to Florence from Ireland. He told 22News that he isn’t ready for the New England heat. Paul Kearney, Florence, told 22News, “That’s going to be unusual for me, because back in Ireland we only felt the 70s at most and that would be a heat wave.” 

Average high temperatures for the beginning of May here in the valley is in the mid 60s. By the end of May, our average will be in the lower 70s.

This week western Massachusetts will be anywhere from 5 to 20 degrees above average. The last time we felt the 80s was back in October of last year. Western Massachusetts usually does not feel the 80s until the end of June.
