Western Massachusetts has already seen more rain in early April than in all of March

Weather News

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Massachusetts was way below its normal rainfall for March, so Monday’s April showers were much needed.

Springfield only saw 2.5 inches of rain for the month of March, when we typically see 3.5 inches, so we’ve been dry.

However, we’ve seen an uptick in rain so far this month. It rained on April 3rd, over this past weekend, and for much of the day Monday.

We’ve seen more than half the rainfall in the first eight days of April than we did in all of March.

This means we’re looking at a better shot of a greener landscape here soon, and many locals are ready for less brown. “I come to Forest Park all the time to take pictures,” Beverly Roberts told 22News, “and it’s getting greener and greener every day.”

And the rain isn’t over yet for this week; we’re looking at rain chances again on Tuesday and toward the end of the week into the weekend.
