It’s wet but mild and for the near term we may have to get used to this. You may be wondering why we’ve been so mild and wet lately.
The weather pattern is ever changing, but recently and in the near future it’s had a big dip in the jet stream in the middle of the country with a rise in the jet stream over the east.
This has brought in colder than average temperatures for the middle of the U.S. with warm air to the west and east.
The jet stream also serves as the path storms take. So as long as the jet stream stays in this similar position we’ll continue to enjoy warmer than average air, but storm after storm will keep following this pattern and we’ll keep getting wet.
This pattern could stay like this for a while and the temperature forecast from the climate prediction center shows that with expectations of colder than average temperatures in the middle of the country with a warmer than average November for western Massachusetts and much of the east coast.
This also means a wetter than average November too. Although, if it stays warm it would mostly be in the form of rain.
