Wind Advisory in effect for New Year’s Day

A Wind Advisory in is effect for all of western Massachusetts from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday.

* WINDS…West 20 to 30 mph with gusts between 45 and 55 mph.

* TIMING…Strongest winds from mid to late Tuesday morning through the afternoon.

* IMPACTS…Strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and power lines. Scattered power outages are expected.

A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of 31 to 39 mph are expected, with gusts between 46 to 57 mph. Winds this strong are capable of downing small tree limbs and branches, possibly causing isolated power outages. Driving can also be difficult,especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
