Winter weather advisories in effect across western Mass for wintry mix, ice

Weather News

After a dry start to the weekend some changes are on the way tonight into Sunday.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect tonight into Sunday morning for a storm system that will bring a mix of snow and sleet that will change over to freezing rain and plain rain.

We could see snow accumulations of less than an inch in some areas to the north and west but the bigger concern will be for icing.

Be very careful on roads overnight Saturday and Sunday morning. The worst of the conditions will be on secondary, untreated roads, and overpasses.

As temperatures rise Sunday morning, we’ll make the switch to plain rain Sunday morning and early afternoon. Some areas over 1500 feet may see the freezing rain last into that late morning and early afternoon. Those areas could see an ice accumulation of tenth to .2″.
