(WCBD) - Marco Delph was working at a car dealership in West Ashley, South Carolina...walking along a path he uses all the time, when he felt something tugging on his sock.
The tugging was a copperhead snake bite. He says it felt like a mosquito bite at first.
The bite landed him in the Intensive Care Unit, where he stayed for a couple of days.
While he was in the hospital, his friends were practicing for the West Ashley High graduation ceremony. He said he was bummed when he realized he would miss the ceremony himself, but his mom had a plan to get the principal of West Ashley High to hold a small celebration in the hospital.
"I realized like I was going to miss graduation, I wasn't going to make the ceremony or practice or anything. My mom saw how much that bothered me, so she went to my principal and told him I was going to miss graduation. I heard later on that he told the class that I got bit by a snake, so I had a bunch of visitors come in and all that," Delph said.
